8 people killed in Russian An-72 plane crash in Congo

Russian-made An-72 transport plane crashed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The press officer of the Russian Embassy in Congo stated that Russian citizens were among the crew of the aircraft. According to her, the embassy is now clarifying the names of the victims.

Earlier, DRC media reported that the An-72 plane crashed in the northern part of the country. The plane was flying from Goma airport to Kinshasa, but after an hour in the air, it stopped communicating with the flight control center and disappeared from the radar screens. Emergency services later confirmed the crash of the aircraft.

A cargo plane was carrying eight passengers and crew, including DRC presidential staff.
