Silicon Valley’s Airport summer passenger traffic grows 16.4 percent

Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) served an average 16.4 percent more passengers during the peak summer travel months compared to the same period last year. With the incredible and sustained growth in June, July and August 2017, SJC is now approaching serving 12 million passengers on a rolling 12-month basis.

SJC was pleased to welcome a significant number of new and existing travelers during the summer travel period thanks to numerous new flights. The Airport served 11.9 million passengers at the 12 months ending August 2017.

“We had incredible growth in June, July and August as Silicon Valley travelers chose SJC’s many nonstop flights for their summer getaways, whether for business or leisure,” said Director of Aviation John Aitken. “We are fast approaching serving 12 million passengers per year, and are continuing to expand and improve our facilities and services to meet this customer demand.”
