World Cup Fever at Frankfurt Airport Live soccer coverage for passengers in both terminals

he World Cup kicks off in Russia today with a total of 32 nations vying for the coveted trophy. The German team is seeking to defend its title and earn the right to a fifth star on their jerseys. Soccer fans traveling through Frankfurt Airport will not have to miss out: there will be a variety of opportunities to watch all matches live.

Watching the beautiful game in an international atmosphere

In the pre-security area, passengers will be able to view the games in the Airport City Mall in Terminal 1 (Level 0, above the regional train station). The sports action will be shown on a large TV screen in the seating area right next to the food and beverage outlets. To ensure passengers in the terminals can keep up to speed with all the goals, airport operator Fraport will, for the first time, be providing a very special service: employees will be carrying screens on their backs to deliver live TV coverage to travelers waiting at the checkpoints.

Once beyond security, passengers wanting to watch the World Cup while enjoying a snack or a drink, will have ample opportunity in the many restaurants and shops in both terminals. A TV screen will also be available at the central Duty Free & Travel Value shop in Pier A (Schengen).

Passengers can enjoy a sports experience of the out-of-the-ordinary kind at the Entertainment Gate in Terminal 1’s Pier B. The area features a 21-meter-wide LED video wall that describes a 180° convex curve. During the World Cup, live broadcasts of selected matches will be shown on this large-scale video wall.
