Turin Airport has embarked on a path of digital transformation with the aim of improving the passenger experience and guiding the company organization to change.
The project involved the entire airport ecosystem, including passengers, to understand their needs and identify the best innovative solutions together.
The first concrete results are available now: enhanced Wi-Fi, web app to know the offer of the airport, e-gate for reading the boarding pass, digital locker for luggage, the system of management and monitoring of queues to security controls, and the Digital Safety Management System and the digital platform for real-time sharing of data among all those operating in the airport infrastructure.
The symbol of this path is the Innovation Lab, a space for comparison and research born within Turin Airport to test digital solutions to improve the airport experience.
It is a transparent place integrated with the departure area where all the stages of the passenger journey have been recreated, an inclusive development space in which collaboration, projects, and innovation travel together.
The Innovation Lab is available to companies, startups, study centers, and universities that want to develop and test innovative solutions dedicated to all airport activities and to interaction with passengers.
The presentation of the project and the inauguration of the space represented an opportunity for comparison with some of the most relevant companies from the point of view of innovation, with testimonies of Alessandro Boglione, CEO of BasicItalia Spa; Alberto Dalmasso, CEO of Satispay; Fabio Mozzone, Marketing Director of Baladin; Giuliana Mattiazzo, Vice Director of Technology Transfer at the Politecnico di Torino; Germano Paini, responsible for the innovation and competitiveness project of the University of Turin; and Fabio Sferruzzi, Managing Director of Talent Garden Torino.
Further solutions are underway, including a new e-commerce platform, a native app, the installation of digital lockers to shop and pick up at your arrival at the airport or to collect purchases made at the time of departure, while for others the feasibility study is underway. All these initiatives allow Turin Airport to meet the needs of users in a faster and more effective way, sharing the benefits of digital transformation with an increasing number of subjects, creating shared value.
