Canadians, tourists and businesses benefit from safe and well-maintained airports. From visiting friends and family, to travelling to medical appointments, or getting goods to market, we rely on our local airports to support and sustain vibrant communities. These airports also provide essential air services including community resupply, air ambulance, search and rescue and forest fire response.
The Honorable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and Member of Parliament for Saint-Maurice—Champlain, on behalf of the Honorable Marc Garneau, Minister of Transport, today visited the Baie-Comeau Airport to tour the recently completed project to rehabilitate the airfield pavement. The work included the levelling and structural resurfacing of the course on Runway 10-28 and on Taxiway D, localized repairs to the concrete slabs of the apron and to the runway thresholds, and repairs to the airport catch basin risers located alongside the pavements.

A well maintained runway, taxiway and apron is key to ensuring safe usage by aircraft, passengers, and crews, as well as helping to protect costly airport safety assets such as snow clearing equipment and aircraft rescue and firefighting vehicles during airport operations.
Funding of $6,378,149 came from Transport Canada’s Airports Capital Assistance Program (ACAP).
