Hong Kong Airlines has been recognized as an innovator within the industry, when it was awarded the “2017 Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Innovation and Creativity Certificate of Merit” by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC). The airline received the award for its new online lost property query system WeFound – a search engine that enables passengers who have lost their belongings on Hong Kong Airlines operated-flights to easily check if their missing items have been found.
“Hong Kong Airlines developed WeFound in response to the increasing number of items that travelers had misplaced on its flights,” revealed Mr Stanley Kan, Director of Service Delivery at Hong Kong Airlines. “The introduction of the service enables the reclaiming process of lost items to be streamlined. Hong Kong Airlines is the only locally based airline to offer such a system for passengers. WeFound is truly a one-of-a-kind innovation that has already benefitted many of our customers.”
WeFound, available both online and through a mobile app offers support in English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese as well as Japanese. Passengers can simply use the service to search for their items, before providing their boarding pass and proof of identity during pickup.
Since debuting in May 2017, WeFound has been positively received by customers. As of October 2017, Hong Kong Airlines has recorded a 143 per cent increase in the number of passengers that have managed to reclaim their lost items, as compared to that in 2016. Further enhancements to the systems are currently planned, as the airline is exploring the possibility of integrating WeFound into its inflight entertainment system to provide travellers with more venues to track the status of their lost items.
