LATAM is the first airline group in the Americas to implement a mobile digital tool that will allow passengers to check in hand luggage in advance. It is the only airline group to offer it on both Android and IOS devices, maximizing access to the new service.
The tool is a reference and passengers’ hand luggage is still subject to revision during the boarding process and must meet the dimensions of the cabin allowance.
“Passengers are at the heart of our business and we are constantly seeking ways to improve their travel experience with state-of-the-art technological and personalized solutions across our digital channels,” said Dirk John, Vice President Digital, LATAM Airlines Group. “This new feature is part of our commitment to offer more experiential options, which give passengers more control of their journey. The augmented reality tool provides will provide our passengers with a useful guide to check in advance whether their hand luggage meets onboard requirements.”
The new tool is available as part of the LATAM application, which has more than 3 million users worldwide and has seen the number of subscribers grow by 10% on average each month since the first quarter of 2018.
The service is just one example of how LATAM is seeking to consolidate its position as an innovative company at the cutting edge of digital developments. Recent initiatives include the introduction of self-service kiosks in LATAM’s principal airports and the foundation of a digital laboratory to innovate and develop new solutions for passengers.
