Norwegian announces the operation of its long-haul, low-cost direct flights from Milan Malpensa to Los Angeles as from June 16, 2018 – a route absent from the Italian market for the last 16 years.
The frequency foresees 4 weekly air services departing from Milan – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday – operated by a 344-seat Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
The launch of this new link will finally reach the largest and most populated Californian city in a convenient, comfortable, and fast way, without stopping at any other airport, said Bjørn Kjos, Norwegian founder and CEO.
The route will be operated throughout the year and is the first long-haul route for the Milan airport operated by Norwegian, which already connects the city of Milan with Oslo and Stockholm.
This new Norwegian air link totals to three the connection with US West Coast destinations. In addition to Milan Malpensa-Los Angeles, there is the Rome Fiumicino-Los Angeles in operation and the flight of Rome Fiumicino-San Francisco which will start in February 2018.
The Norwegian route from Milan Malpensa to Los Angeles is the only direct connection between the West Coast of the United States and the whole of Northern Italy. In fact, since March 2002, Milan has not had a regular direct connection with the US West Coast.
In addition to Milan, Norwegian today announces new long-haul flights from Amsterdam (to New York, starting May 7) and Madrid (to Los Angeles and New York JFK, available respectively from July 15 and 17). With these new routes from Milan, Amsterdam, and Madrid, Norwegian offers 61 routes to the United States from 16 European airports
