Russia’s new Irkut MC-21 single-aisle twinjet passenger aircraft, which performed an experimental flight, made an emergency landing at Zhukovsky International Airport just outside of Moscow.
According to preliminary data, the reason for the emergency landing was a failure of aircraft’s electronics.
There were four crew members onboard the aircraft.
No one was injured during emergency landing.
Before landing, the aircraft dumped fuel to reduce the likelihood of fire in a severe collision with the runway.
Russia touts its new problem-plagued Irkut MC-21 aircraft as a viable alternative to Boeing 737 MAX and Airbus A220-300.
