A flight from Moscow Domodedovo Airport landed at Costa Smeralda where it was welcomed by the traditional “Arc of Triumph” made by the fire brigade of Olbia.
It was a spectacular setting for the Airbus 320 and its 155 passengers welcomed by the Geasar staff, the country manager of the S7 Airlines, Marzio Scamolla, and a delegation from the folk group, Olbiese, dressed in traditional Sardinian costume.
The flight to Moscow will be operational until September 29 with 3 frequencies a week on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
“We are very happy to welcome S7 Airlines to Olbia; the new connection further enriches our offer for the Russian market,” commented Mario Garau, Geasar’s Routes Development Manager. “In the 2018 season, we expect traffic from/to Russia of about 20,000 passengers with an increase of +177% (+15,000 passengers) compared to last year.
“Passengers originating from Sardinia will appreciate direct flights to Moscow; from where they will continue their journey through a vast network of domestic and international flights within the S7 Airlines network.
“European tourists love to visit the two Russian “capitals” of Moscow and St. Petersburg in one trip, which can be easily organized thanks to the comfortable connections offered by S7 Airline,” said Igor Veretennikov, S7 Group Chief Commercial Officer.
During the month of May, 261,542 passengers passed through Olbia, up 15% (+35,261) compared to May of last year.
