At Las Vegas ‘ Harry Reid International Airport ( LAS ), the Transportation Security Administration ( TSA ) and the Department of Homeland Security’s ( DHS) Science and Technology Directorate ( S&, T ) introduced the self-service screening system, a prototype checkpoint technology. TSA PreCheck travellers at TSA’s Innovation Checkpoint may have the opportunity to use this new program during testing starting in the middle of March. The self-screening street adheres to the same rigorous testing standards and rules as the TSA PreCheck roads.
The self-service monitoring system was a design systems created and tested by TSA and S&, T. It was first tested in a lab at Arlington, Virginia’s TSA Systems Integration Facility. The program has a video screen that provides step-by-step instructions for self-paced screen for the passengers. Automated exit doors are opened for passengers to load their belongings after passing the screening process and obtaining clearing. Transportation Security Officers ( TSOs ) offer little assistance, but they are always available for assistance. TSOs will make sure that TSA PreCheck passengers traveling in the self-selection alley adhere to safety standards. The objective is to develop a passenger screening procedure that is almost self-sufficient, allowing passengers to get on-person alarm information instantly and resolve any alarms themselves, reducing the need for additional screening procedures.
TSA may obtain customer feedback and information on the state’s performance, style, cybersecurity, people factors, and other factors in a life checkpoint setting. This data will be used to determine future system growth, style requirements, and to learn about how rider and TSO interact. The information gathered may inform future design, development, practicality, and practicality choices.

In the late 2021, S&, T awarded contracts to three businesses for the development of self-screening ideas, prototypes, and equipment. The first self-service testing prototype at LAS has successfully passed testing in the lab, while the remaining prototypes are still developing and will quickly go through testing in the lab as part of upcoming tests for operating implementation.
