The Airbus Foundation’s Board of Directors has welcomed Sherry Lassiter, Director at the Fab Foundation, to its College of External Experts.
The Airbus Foundation’s College of External Experts consists of five representatives from NGOs as well as the aerospace business. Their mission is to provide guidance and expertise in their respective fields to the Foundation’s Board of Directors and Senior Executives.
“The Airbus Foundation is currently ramping up its innovation activities and Sherry’s extensive connections in this field combined with her enormous expertise in youth development activities will be of high value to the Airbus Foundation,” said Tom Enders, Airbus CEO and Chairman of the Airbus Foundation. “I am happy to welcome Sherry to the College of External Experts and look forward to working with her.”
Sherry Lassiter is Director at the Fab Foundation, a non-profit organisation committed to building technical capacity in a locality, improving individuals’ abilities to develop themselves and their communities and bringing access to tools and knowledge that cultivate and support innovating practices. It supports the creation of Fab Labs, rapid prototyping platforms for technical education, innovation and personal expression. The Fab Lab network includes 1,600 digital fabrication facilities in more than 100 countries.
After a two-decade career in science journalism as producer, writer and director for television series such as Scientific American Frontiers, Discover the World of Science, and The Science Times, Sherry Lassiter became a protagonist in science and technology, becoming part of the story, rather than just telling the story. As Program Manager for the NSF-funded Center for Bits & Atoms at MIT she has seen and enabled the personal fabrication movement as it has grown and evolved.
Sherry Lassiter will join Kriss Akabusi, Olympic medallist and CEO of The Akabusi Company & Charitable Trust, Birgitte Stalder-Olsen, Former Head of IFRC Global Logistics, Dave Barger, Airlink Board member and former CEO of JetBlue Airways and Claudie Haigneré, First French female astronaut and Senior Advisor to the Director General of European Space Agency, in the Airbus Foundation’s College of External Experts.
