Singapore Airlines: Deeper into the Italian market

On the eve of the Summer Solstice, Singapore Airlines (SIA) called the Roman travel trade and representatives of the press for an unusual open-air press conference in Rome.

At the roof-top garden of Hotel Savoy Teck Hui Wong, SIA general manager for Italy expressed the airlines’ satisfaction for the new features introduced in the last 12 months that have improved the offer of the carrier on connections from Rome and Milan.

“In April last year, the Premium Economy class was introduced in Italy. This, together with the introduction of the A350 both on Malpensa and Fiumicino airports has revolutionized [the] SIA offer and improved the experience on board,” emphasized Teck Hui-Wong.

The summer timetable introduced an increase in frequencies on the Rome-Singapore from 3 to 4 flights a week.

The news of the summer, however, is on the medium range, following the introduction of the new B787-10 on flights from Singapore to Bangkok, Osaka, Perth, and Tokyo Narita. These strategic sectors will be useful for connecting air services with flights from Italy.

The Dreamliner, a hyper-technological and comfortable aircraft of the latest generation, will enter the schedule on Bali-Denpasar and Manila destinations as from July 2 and 3 respectively.

The new 787-10 have a total of 337 seats: 36 in Business Class and 301 seats in Economy class.
