It is focused on leasing, sales, and remarketing of commercial airliners and executive jets, aircraft asset management, and structured finance. Veling has its HQ in Mauritius with an office in Dubai.
Seychellois Captain David Savy, formerly of Air Seychelles, is the Chairman of this privately-owned company and Nirvan Veerasamy is the founder and Managing Director of the company. He has a long industry track record having been involved with Singapore Airlines, Indian Airlines, Air India, and Malaysian Airline before becoming MD of Air Mauritius.
Vijay Poonoosamy and Mario Schuler are the non-Executive Directors with Hitesh H. Patel as CEO and Laurence Baron as the Advisor to the Board.
Captain David Savy of Seychelles has served on the Board since 2006 and this company has now grown to be the most significant aircraft lessor from Africa. Today they own 5 Airbus 380’s on lease to Emirates and 5 B777s three who are on lease to a Russian airline. They also own and operate a state-of-the-art private terminal in Mauritius and an FBO. They have a company that also trades in private jets and corporate aircraft based in Dubai.
It is known that it remains very difficult to break into the aircraft leasing market and for islanders/Africans to have made it is a feat in itself. Veling is also a specialist in structured finance and we have been able over the years to raise $ billions to finance B777-300 and A380 from Japanese banks for our customers
.
They have also found homes for a large number of Singapore Airlines owned surplus aircraft which included B777s and B747s. Veling is unique where three of the four directors have actually served as airline chief executives and they better understand the specific needs of customers and the tremendous challenges they have.
Veling as a company is good news from the African continent and testimony that half given the opportunity we islanders and Africans can play in the first divisions in their own right.
