A preliminary investigation has been conducted in accordance with the report from Indonesia’s National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT ) regarding two Batik Air pilots sleeping together for nearly thirty minutes on a regional flight in January of this year. Despite this incident, the flight managed to land securely at its intended target, according to KNTK, which reported that the journey had 157 passengers on board.
A scheduled Indonesian aircraft with a base at Jakarta, Indonesia’s Soekarno Hatta International Airport is PT Batik Air Indonesia, which operates as Batik Air. The flight, which was established in 2012 as the full-service division of the Lion Air Group, made its first flight on May 3, 2013 from Jakarta to Manado and Yogyakarta.
An incident occurred on January 25 on a Batik Air flight from Kendari to Jakarta that lasted for two days and 35 minutes. The helicopter deviated from its expected course while both the pilot and co-pilot slept for 28 minutes, according to the statement.
The KNKT report did not provide the pilots ‘ names. However, it was stated that the second-in-command is 28 years old and the skipper is 32 years old. Both aircraft are Indian citizens who have had alcohol-related health screenings.

According to the review, the skipper requested that the copilot give him permission to take a break about 30 minutes after the flight. The skipper inquired if the co-pilot even wanted to rest less than an hour after waking up. The captain fell asleep as a result of a negative answer, while the co-pilot remained in charge of the plane.
The co-pilot after “inadvertently fell asleep” after making email with Jakarta’s air traffic control center. The skipper woke up and realized that the aircraft “was not on the right flight path,” which was the report claims, after air traffic control tried to contact the aircraft several times before receiving no reply for 28 minutes.
The co-pilot unknowingly snoozed after establishing contact with Jakarta’s air traffic control centre. The cockpit, according to the report, was indifferent throughout the 28-minute flight without touch until the captain woke up and realized the plane was n’t moving in the right direction.
The pilot later made a course correction and made a safe takeoff in Jakarta. The plane remained unharmed despite no injury.
The Transportation Ministry” highly reprimands” Batik Air over the incident, according to Maria Kristi Endah Murni, director of civil aircraft in Indonesia, and that the two planes have been placed on left in accordance with accepted operating procedures pending further research.
