Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. ( BTMI ) is still making an impact on the international tourism and hospitality market. The Hospitality Sales &, Marketing Association International ( HSMAI ) most recently recognized the company for its superior marketing performance at its prestigious Adrian Awards, which were held on February 13 at the New York Marriott Marquis. The HSMAI Adrian Awards, then in their 67th time, honor hospitality brands and organizations” for creativity and innovation in marketing, online marketing, and public relationships.” Resorts, airlines, cruise lines, car rental companies, sites, and more are just a few of the kindness industry’s competitors. Over 800 people submitted entries for the Adrian Honors this year under the style of” WanderLOVE.”
BTMI received recognition in the group” Integrated Campaign: New Opening/Launch” for its creative customer integrated campaign to promote the introduction of JetBlue’s twice-daily, non-stop flights from New York ‘ John F. Kennedy Airport as well as its twice a week departures from Logan Airport in Boston.
The campaign featured a first-of-its-kind, pop-up experience with well-known Barbadian-based ( and Rihanna’s favorite ) fast food restaurant Chefette, with activations at Bryant Park in New York and Copley Square in Boston in June of last year.

The pop-up generated lines, which stretched across several blocks in both New York and Boston, generated a lot of excitement and gave BTMI the chance to introduce onlookers and bystanders to target Barbados and the new JetBlue aircraft service. The partnership achieved incredible success on social media platforms, garnering more than 5 million media and social ideas and also receiving feedback from Rihanna herself via Instagram.
Over 3000 people attended the activations, with visits to the Visit Barbados landing page rising by 17 % on activation days and bookings to barbados rising significantly by 40 % over the course of the event.
Peter Mayers, the US director of BTMI, and Tenisha Holder, top business growth officer, were present to take the honor.

Mayers continued,” We’re constantly looking for ways to promote the best of Barbados while also improving our relationship with our flight partners, of which JetBlue is a very significant one.”
