China Southern Airlines Selects APS3200 Auxiliary Power Unit

Pratt & Whitney Canada, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), today announced that China Southern Airlines (“China Southern”) has selected the APS3200 auxiliary power unit (APU) for the airline’s order of 104 purchased and leased Airbus A320 family aircraft. With this contract award, China Southern will operate more than 250 Airbus A320 family aircraft with the APS3200. Pratt & Whitney Canada and China Southern have also signed a long-term comprehensive support agreement to cover the APS3200 APU maintenance.

In addition to the A320 family, China Southern also operates Airbus A380, Boeing 787 and Embraer E190-E1 aircraft which are fitted with Pratt & Whitney Canada APUs.

“We’ve been supplying APUs to China Southern for 20 years – and aircraft engines even longer,” said Marty Kessell, vice president of APUs at Pratt & Whitney Canada. “Today we are honored to strengthen our relationship with Asia’s largest airline with 104 additional APUs and related services.”
