Emergency landing in Hawaii on the Big Island

Two people were onboard a single-engine Cessna 206 when the aircraft experienced engine failure and had to make an emergency landing in Waikoloa on the Big Island in Hawaii.

The pilot of the airplane advised Kona International Airport that they would have to make an emergency landing onto a road.

The aircraft safely landed on Waikoloa Road about a mile south of Waikoloa Village, The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported. There were no injuries reported.

The Big Island Police Department issued an advisory at 11:17 am to motorists to use extreme caution at the 4-mile marker on Waikoloa Road where emergency responders were at the scene.
