FAA conclusion: Is corrosion on Southwest Airlines a deadly security issue?

Today a well-trained pilot managed to land a crippled aircraft with a part of an engine blown off. Has the issue of corrosion found on Southwest Boeing aircrafts had become a safety concern? And now has it become a deadly concern. An aircraft, like any metal object, is inherently prone to corrosion.
