With just five days to go until Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot, Heathrow is celebrating the pair saying ‘I do’ by welcoming passengers who arrive during the ceremony on Saturday 19 May with a regal fanfare.
Inspired by the happy couple’s wedding cake, Heathrow is serving 1,000 handmade ‘royal’ lemon and elderflower cupcakes to inbound passengers, who will also be greeted by the sight of a Queen’s Guard, Beefeater and patriotic bunting, as well as the sounds of a Royal Trumpeter.
The ‘royal welcome’ will take place in arrivals at the airport’s four terminals on Saturday 19 May, from 10am – 4pm, with the airport expecting to see more than 109,000 passengers land on the big day. In the week leading up to the event (12 – 18 May 2018), Heathrow is due to see 9% more arrivals from North America and a 3.4% growth of total arrivals, versus 2017.
