Kazakhstan’s first budget airline FlyArystan launches Moscow flight

Kazakhstan’s first low-cost airline FlyArystan announced the start of ticket sales for its first international route from Nur-Sultan to Moscow. The new Moscow route will be operated on a daily basis on Airbus A320 aircraft from December 13, 2019.

Daily flights on FlyArystan will operate from Nur-Sultan to Zhukovsky International Airport. The duration of the flight will be approximately 3 hours in each direction with the flights departing Nur-Sultan in the late evening at 10.10 pm with an arrival into Moscow at 10.40 pm the same day. The return flight to Nur-Sultan operates overnight leaving Zhukovsky at 11.25 pm arriving into Nur-Sultan at 05:35 am the following morning. The planned flight schedule allows travelers to maximize their travel day in both locations whether that is for business or pleasure.

The director of sales and marketing of FlyArystan Janar Jailauova said “Moscow is clearly an important historic, tourist and business center and as such it’s only appropriate that it is our first international route flown by FlyArystan from our Capital Nur-Sultan. We are confident that with our low fares we shall stimulate significant new traffic between Nur-Sultan and Moscow in both directions. That is great news for potential tourism growth in both locations while also allowing families in both cities to reconnect more often.”

Zhukovsky is one of the fastest growing airports in the world and last year handled 1.16 million passengers which was 173% more than a year earlier. Janar Jailauova continued “After the start of FlyArystan operations, passenger traffic at airports across Kazakhstan increased by an average of 30-35%. As such we are confident that we shall see the same with our new market to Moscow. We are certainly hopeful that this new route is the first of several that we shall launch to the Moscow region over the coming months and years”.

The Director General of RAMPORT AERO Thomas Vaishvila believes that the low-cost model used by the airline will certainly make these flights exciting for citizens of Russia and Kazakhstan. “From our side we will try to provide the airline and passengers with a friendly welcome and the best conditions. The cultural and economic ties between Russia and Kazakhstan are constantly being strengthened, so the carrier’s plans to increase the fleet open up great opportunities for strengthening and expanding our partnership in the future”, – commented the launch of sales the head of Zhukovsky airport.

This new route addition is made possible by the addition of a 4th aircraft to the FlyArystan fleet in December and the second to be based in Nur-Sultan. It is planned to expand the FlyArystan fleet to 10 A320 aircraft by the end of 2020. The FlyArystan fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft are configured with 180 seats and have an average age of 6 years. By 2022, it is planned to increase the airline’s fleet to at least 15 aircraft.

Low-cost airline FlyArystan is a division of Air Astana, based in Almaty. FlyArystan will operate from multiple aircraft bases in Kazakhstan with bases in Almaty, Nur-Sultan, Karaganda and Aktobe already announced or in operation with others expected to follow in the medium term.
