WestJet wraps up cross-country travel trade Expos

WestJet today announced that they have wrapped up the airline’s travel trade Expos for the year. Since April, the airline has reached more than 4,000 travel agents in over 30 cities across Canada through these events.

“With our larger travel trade Expos in the spring of 2017, our fall Expos, and local presentations hosted by WestJet’s Business Development Managers throughout the year, we have had the chance to have face-time with thousands of our agent partners,” said Lyell Farquharson, Vice President, Sales and Distribution. “Every year, we are adding more events and seeing more agents in more cities because we know how valuable these events are for the travel agent community and for all of us at WestJet.”

WestJet’s first round of Expos took place in April in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. The fall Expos started in St. John’s in early September and travelled west across the country, stopping in Halifax, Moncton, Ottawa, Kitchener, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon and Langley. The last Expo was on October 4 in Parksville, B.C.

“It’s important for us to sit down with our travel agents and listen to their feedback,” continued Farquharson. “It helps us be easier to do business with and ultimately gives our mutual clients the best possible travel experience.”

The Expos are designed to allow travel agents to visit with their regional WestJet representative and WestJet Vacations hotel and destination partners. WestJet representatives also give a presentation focused on the airline’s vision for the future and its plans for expanding into new markets and becoming a global airline.

“Our next big event is our fifth annual Travel Partner Awards at the end of October,” said Farquharson. “We take every opportunity we can to honour our agency partnerships, and recognize the agencies, agents and supplier partners who contribute to WestJet’s success.”
