FAA Searches Air Traffic Controllers and Pilots With Disabilities

According to the website of the United States Federal Aviation Administration ( FAA ), the agency has apparently given priority to individuals with severe intellectual disability and other significant conditions in their hiring process. Administrators have been instructed to promote these candidates and position them at the top of the work range.
The agency responsible for civil aviation in the US has a program called Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility ( DEIA ) that focuses on recruiting, hiring, promoting, retaining, developing, and advancing individuals with disabilities. As part of this system, these candidates go through a simplified selecting process without having to contend against more ready applicants.
The FAA website says that there is a strong emphasis on recruiting individuals with certain disabilities such as reading or vision impairments, missing limbs, paralysis ( partial or complete ), epilepsy, serious intellectual disability, medical illness, and malnutrition.
Out of the 78 present jobs available to the public on the US Federal Aviation Administration’s site, 52 are designated as appropriate for individuals with disabilities or other special features.
There are two available opportunities for the flight pilot place, and one place available for an air traffic control professional.
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility effort has been in place at the US Federal Aviation Administration since 2013, and the website outlining this plan has not been updated for over a month. However, a Sunday statement in American media sparked a discussion on social media and in Capitol Hill.
Republican Representative Jeff Van Drew stated that the FAA should emphasize hiring the most skilled people who can effectively prevent our aircraft, rather than focusing on political correctness. He emphasized that the FAA’s primary duty lies in ensuring the protection of our airport.

Musk just highlighted Boeing’s business filings, which revealed that the aircraft company has been giving bonuses to executives who achieve La targets, expressing concern on X about the possible compromise of safety in favor of prioritizing DEI hiring in an airplane you may choose to travel in.
