Malawi banks on Ulendo Airlink to boost local tourism

Ulendo Airlink, a low-cost airline from Malawi, has introduced special flying rates for Malawians and people resident in the country to boost domestic tourism. The move, according to the airline, is expected to promote tourism and provide an opportunity for people to visit tourist attraction places.

The company’s commercial service agent Azaria Manda said one has to show proof of citizenship or residency to enjoy this package. Malawi citizen or resident fare, require proof of citizenship or residency will be required for all passengers.

Ulendo Airlink also has flights to Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Club Makokola in Mangochi, Mfuwe in Zambia, Likoma Island, Liwonde and Nyika National Park in Rumphi.

The Department of Tourism chief tourism officer Ian Mshani said this is a positive development that will promote domestic tourism.

Travel Centre managing director Tsala Mapapa has lauded Ulendo Airlink for introducing the Lilongwe-Blantyre route and the initiative of targeting Malawians.
