Air Samarkand Launches with Istanbul Flights, New CEO

Uzbekistan’s fresh Air Samarkand airport announced that it will start its planned trip program on Thursday, March 21. The Airbus A321neo plane will be used by the fresh airline to fly between Samarkand and Istanbul. Round-trip services will operate twice per week in the initial phase, with departures from Samarkand International Airport ( SKD ) to Istanbul International Airport ( IST ) on Mondays and Thursdays. This route’s scheduled trip time is roughly 5 hours.
Zafar Butaev has also been named as the fresh CEO of Air Samarkand, replacing Anton Khodiayan. Khodiayan will continue working for the flight as an assistant, but he will step down as Director General of Air Marakanda, a company that manages airports.
Istanbul is a very sought-after vacation destination for travelers from Samarkand. It serves as a vital link between Uzbekistan and Turkey, with heavy- embedded social, business, and tourism connections that have developed over several centuries. Airlines from Samarkand may depart at 8 am and arrive in Istanbul at 11 a.m. Return flights leave Istanbul at 12:30 pm and arrive back in Samarkand at 7:00 pm ( all times are local ).
